The Kamrup (Metro) district administration is considering a ban on the use of thermocol fish boxes used by fish traders to store fish.
Although there is no immediate action in this regard, the administration has asked traders to gradually replace thermocol boxes.
On Friday, Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha met with members of the Uzan Bazar fish market committee to discuss this issue.
DC Jha stated that it has come to the district administration’s attention that the use of thermocol boxes is widespread in the city’s markets, posing a risk to the environment and human health.
