Following the BJP’s victory in the GMC Election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveys his gratitude to the people of Guwahati through a tweet.

The prime minister tweeted, “Thank you Guwahati! The people of this lovely city have given a resounding mandate to @BJP4Assam to build on the agenda of development. They have also blessed the hardwork of the state government under CM @himantabiswa. My gratitude to every BJP Karyakarta for the hardwork.”

The Bharatiya Janata Party-Asom Gana Parishad alliance secured a near-clean sweep, in the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) elections. The alliance won 58 of the 60 wards.

Prior to the polls, the BJP had already won three seats unopposed, and of the remaining 57 seats, the saffron party won 52, with its alliance AGP securing six of the seven seats it fought.

Whereas, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) won in one ward each. Congress secures zero wards to its name.
