According to the recently released Swachh Bharat Sarvekshan National Rankings 2022, Guwahati is rated 342 out of 382 cities having a population of 1 lakh to 10 lakh. In contrast to Indore’s 7146.41, which came in first, Guwahati scored 1736.12.
Assam came in ninth place among states with fewer than 100 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), following Tripura, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Kerala, Manipur, and Sikkim.
However, speaking to the media, a senior Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) official claimed that GMC was unable to assist the Swachh Bharat Sarvekshan 2022 survey team in gathering the necessary data and information, which caused Guwahati to rank 342 out of 382 cities nationally in terms of cleanliness.
