New guidelines, including stringent traffic laws during this Durga Puja, have been issued by the Kamrup metro administration.
According to Gautam Das, Kamrup Metro’s Assistant Commissioner of Transport and DTO (R&L), strict measures would be taken against those who violate the traffic rules.
He said, “Driving under the influence of alcohol during this Puja could lead to heavy fines up to Rs 10,000 and the licenses of the violators will be cancelled for three months.”
The wearing of helmets for both the rider and pillion rider during this Puja is a must, added Gautam Das.
It has been also requested of the Puja committees that no pandals be held on the streets.
The Puja committees have been instructed to file for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from both APDCL and PWD, as per Additional Deputy Commissioner Dhrubojyoti Baruah.
