Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced today, February 28, that Silsako Beel will soon be transformed into the largest lake in the state. He shared images of the design model of the Silsako Lake on Twitter and stated that it will add to the scenic beauty of Assam while also mitigating the problem of artificial flooding in Guwahati.
The chief minister tweeted, “Assam will soon have the largest lake at Silsako. A spectacular model of the proposed Silsako lake has been designed and it will add to the scenic grandeur & ease the perennial artificial flooding in Guwahati.”
Meanwhile, an eviction drive has been underway at Silsako since February 27, with almost 160 houses already demolished out of the 453 houses that are scheduled to be evicted in the area.
