Assam is already in the midst of monsoon season apparently. Rainfall has been falling on a regular basis in the state, along with other Northeastern states of India.

The latest report from the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) warns of an increase in rainfall activity over the Northeast states from April 13 to 15.

Because of a cyclonic circulation in Assam’s west, “Moisture incursion is very likely to occur due to Strong lower level Southerly/Southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal to Northeast India during 13-15 April 2022. Under its influence fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy falls very likely to occur over northeast region during 13-15 April, 2022. Thunderstorm/ Lightning with gusty winds (40-50 kmph) is also expected during 13-14 April, 2022 over Assam,” the report from the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) stated.

In Assam, the Bohag Bihu celebrations begin on April 14 and last for four days in most cities, including Guwahati. Following two years of restrained celebrations due to the pandemic, people of the state have prepared for the festivities. The rain, on the other hand, is likely to cause problems, particularly during the day when ‘Mukoli Bihu’ is held.
