Guwahati residents are dissatisfied with the city’s presumably “primitive” methods of cleaning the city’s drains.

Sharing a photo from Guwahati’s Ulubari Chariali, one resident wrote on Twitter, “This is Ulubari Chariali in #Guwahati. Shocked to see @guwahati_gmc still follow the primitive method of drain cleaning.”

Tagging Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Housing & Urban Affairs and Irrigation minister Ashok Singhal, he added, “Isn’t #Guwahati a Smart City?”

Another resident who had similar grievances replied to the tweet, “Pathetic. I mean why! We’ve been watching this horror for years, complaining for years, reaching only deaf ears, yet it remains where it wasn’t supposed to be. I fear if I want to invite anyone to visit my home city – given the appalling state it is in.”
