Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, while talking to the media, announced on Wednesday that the proposal has been initiated for the construction of an underwater tunnel in the river Brahmaputra.
“The project is being considered a priority at the moment and I am hopeful that the center will approve the construction of this tunnel,” the chief minister told reporters.
With space for both roads and railways, the tunnel will run from Nagaon, beginning at the Kaliabor Tea Estate and ending at Jamuguri on the opposite side.
