Assam Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika took to social media X to underscore the stark differences in petrol and alcohol prices between Assam and Congress-led Karnataka. Sharing a receipt from Bengaluru, Minister Hazarika revealed that a litre of petrol in Karnataka is priced at Rs 117, significantly higher than Assam’s rate of Rs 98.
In a separate tweet, the minister drew attention to the taxation policies, stating that a 750 ML alcohol bottle costs Rs 835 in Assam, while the same quantity in Karnataka is an imposing Rs 2,155. Hazarika expressed concerns about the health risks of alcohol consumption and criticized what he perceives as excessively high taxes in Congress-controlled states.
