People living on government lands, VGR/PGR, or Debuttar Government land in Guwahati will soon receive land rights from the Assam government.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement on Monday, April 11, while releasing the BJP’s Sankalp Patra for the GMC polls.

The chief minister stated that the initiative will be carried out under the Assam government’s Mission Basundhara-2 scheme.

He said, “We are committed to providing rights to these people residing on the hills of Guwahati, Debuttar government lands or government grazing lands.”

The chief minister added, “A lot of people have benefitted under Mission Basundhara’s first phase. I expect that under Mission Basudhara-2, Guwahati residents will get their land rights.”

“Land Mutation and Land Integration in Guwahati will begin from May 10. It means, henceforth if someone buys land in Guwahati, it will be registered in Sub-registrar. The name deed (namzari) will be included and after the land’s registration will be done. There is no need to go to the Revenue Office for land registration,” said the chief minister.

Chief Minister Sarma informed that both jobs will be completed using the same software. Following its implementation in Guwahati City, the Revenue Administration will be on par with all other cities across the country.

He added, “We want to provide land rights and land management to the Guwahati residents on a mission mode.”
