People criticizes the incorrect ‘Dhol’ used in two advertisements for well-known companies depicting couples celebrating Bihu.
In one poster of Max Cement, Adil Hussain, a prominent Bollywood actor from Assam, can be seen portraying a ‘Dhulia’ with the wrong ‘Dhol’, as pointed out by Nilotpal Bora.
In a Facebook post made on Thursday, Nilotpal Bora wrote, roughly translated: “The Dhol used in these two posters is not proper Bihu Dhols. Advertisements like this from foreign companies have erroneously interpreted Assamese language and culture, and this isn’t the first time this has happened, but will it continue?”
Bora went on to ask that everyone share and tag these corporations in order to call them out on their mistakes.
