Oil India’s corporate headquarters will be relocated from Delhi to Guwahati in less than a month.
Rameshwar Teli, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, speaking to the media on February 21 said, “Following a discussion with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, it was determined that the headquarters would be moved to Assam within a month. The office would be at Bamunimaidam, and the Assam government has already given Oil India 7 bighas of land. We’ve also pulled out a tender to work on the design of the headquarters.”
• Reason behind the relocation
The government of India asked Oil India to relocate its corporate headquarters after a massive oilfield fire in 2021 took the lives of three individuals, displaced one hundred families, and took five months to put out.
