Assam Singer Zubeen Garg recently spoke out about the continuing debate over making Hindi compulsory. He stated that learning a new language has no negative consequences.
The singer said there is no harm in learning a new language. He did, however, advise prioritising one’s mother tongue and state language.
While chairing the 37th meeting of the Parliamentary Official Language Committee, Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently stated that Hindi should be allowed as an alternative to English but not to regional languages.
