Due to the worsening COVID-19 scenario in Assam, there will be no cultural event for the Republic Day celebrations this year. This will be the second year in a row that the State’s Republic Day cultural programme has been cancelled due to the pandemic.
According to a senior official of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, a meeting was conducted in this respect, and it was agreed that no cultural programme would be held during the Republic Day celebrations on January 26 this year. Only the flag hoisting and parade will be part of the celebrations.
