The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has installed its first ever Smart Automatic Coach Washing Plant (ACWP) in Guwahati at the Kamakhya Coach Maintenance Depot.

The plant, which has a multistage cleaning facility, was inaugurated on March 2 by NF Railway General Manager Anshul Gupta.

The initiative is a significant step toward committing to water conservation by providing an efficient and cost-effective technique for outer body cleaning with optimal water utilisation.

The NF Railway intends to install eight additional ACWPS in Siliguri, New Jalpaiguri, Dibrugarh, Katihar, Silchar, Naharlagun, Alipurduar, and Agartala.

The plant is equipped with an Intelligent Control System, which has an auto-start system that activates when the train enters the ACWP. It can also self-diagnose and alert you if there is a problem with the system. As a result, the cutting-edge system outperforms the traditional manual coach washing system in terms of cleaning quality.
