In an odd and offensive statement, Maharashtra MLA Bacchu Kadu suggested that all stray dogs from Maharashtra be brought to Assam so that Assamese people may eat them.

It would be feasible for Maharashtra to transport stray dogs there, according to MLA Bacchu Kadu, leader of the Prahar Janshakti Party, who claimed that Assamese people devour dogs.

Bacchu Kadu made the derogatory remarks during a debate on the subject in the state assembly.

The MLA went on to add that this should be an experimental initiative and that dogs from one city should be transferred to Assam first, followed by other cities.

It’s interesting to note that MLA Kadu was among the rebels who lodged at the Radisson Blu in Guwahati with other MLAs from the now-Eknath Shinde camp.

According to Kadu, it was while he was residing in Guwahati that he observed the dog mania that the state’s residents were experiencing.

Jharkhand MLA Biranchi Narayan made a similar disparaging remark in the assembly about Nagaland, another Northeastern state, saying that “call the people of Nagaland and the problem will go away” if stray dogs are posing a threat.
