Assam government announced on Tuesday that the government will cover the costs of Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgahain and sprinter Hima Das’ Olympic preparations by offering cash assistance.
Lovlina Borgohain will receive Rupees 2.5 lakh per month from the state government, while Hima Das would receive Rupees 1 lakh.
The decision was made at a cabinet meeting, and the state government will continue to provide the same amount until the 2024 Olympic Games.
The government has taken the initiative in order to assist and support the state’s sports talents in preparing for the approaching major international sporting event.
