Four northeastern states have been recognised for their significant contributions to developing sustainable tourism by the jury for the “Outlook Traveller Awards 2022,” which is composed of a brilliant jury of renowned social entrepreneurs and captivating speakers.

The Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve in Assam won the Gold Award for being India’s “Best Wildlife Destination,” meanwhile the Gold Award for “Best Mountain/Hill Views Destination in India” has been won by Pelling & Kanchenjunga in Sikkim.

Sikkim has received the Gold Award for “Best Scenic Drive Destination in India” (Gangtok to Lake Tsomgo and Nathu-La Pass).

In the meantime, the Silver Awards for “Best Eco-Tourism Destination in India” and “Best Offbeat Destination in India,” respectively, have been given to Mawlynnong in Meghalaya and Khonoma in Nagaland.

It’s worth noting that the “Outlook Traveller Awards 2022″—the gold standard for excellence in the travel and tourism sector—aims to assess the changes in the travel process that have evolved into the ‘new normal’ and establish how stakeholders may profit from such modifications.

The event has drawn participants with ties to the travel and tourism sector over the years. These include travel agents, social media influencers, journalists, designers, artists, hoteliers, international and state tourism boards, ambassadors, and government representatives.
