Even though the monsoon season should have ended by now, rain has continued and now threatens to ruin Durga Puja festivities throughout the North East region.
According to a forecast released on Saturday by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Assam and Meghalaya will likely experience widespread light to moderate rainfall, isolated heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning from Sunday to Tuesday, as well as Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until Monday.
The meteorological office reported that isolated areas over Assam and Meghalaya saw light to moderate rainfall, while isolated areas over Tripura experienced heavy rainfall between 8.30 a.m. on Friday to 8.30 a.m. on Saturday.
