A health advice has been issued advising residents of Guwahati to wear masks outside due to the city’s severely poor air quality.
Several reasons, including an increase in vehicle pollution, construction work, and stubble burning in adjacent areas, are to blame for this. The respiratory and cardiovascular systems may suffer significantly as a result of the high concentrations of hazardous contaminants in the air.
It is strongly advised that people minimise their outdoor activities and spend as much time indoors as they can, especially those who have pre-existing conditions, young children, and the elderly. The government is asked to take swift action and make improvements to the air quality for the benefit of its people.
