Guwahati-born actor Gayatri Sharma has brought great pride to the state of Assam with her captivating performance in the highly anticipated film ‘Agra’, which left audiences mesmerized at the renowned Cannes Film Festival.

Directed by Kanu Behl, ‘Agra’ takes viewers on a thought-provoking journey exploring one individual’s sexual odyssey, delving deep into the realms of desire and the repression faced by men.

The grand premiere of ‘Agra’ took place on the night of May 24 at the esteemed Cannes Film Festival, leaving the audience on their feet in admiration. A thunderous standing ovation lasting five minutes was offered as a heartfelt gesture of appreciation for the brilliance portrayed in the film.

Out of the numerous Indian films showcased at the Cannes Film Festival 2023, ‘Agra’ was one of the three selected. The film also earned a coveted spot in the Directors’ Fortnight Section.

The stellar cast of ‘Agra’ includes Rahul Roy, along with the talented Gayatri Sharma, Priyanka Bose, and Ruhani Sharma.

Reflecting on the film’s success, Gayatri shared her gratitude, stating, “I feel extremely blessed to have had the opportunity to work alongside such a talented cast. The audition process was rigorous, and I’m thrilled that I landed the role. Undoubtedly, ‘Agra’ is a bold movie, but I hope the audience will love and appreciate it as much as it was cherished at the festival.”

Aside from her remarkable role in ‘Agra’, Gayatri has also made appearances in various popular OTT series, including ‘Delhi Crime,’ ‘Leila,’ and ‘Decoupled.’

Moreover, Gayatri Sharma possesses extensive experience in journalism and mass media, having worked with NDTV for an impressive 13 years from 1998 to 2011. She also served as the lead faculty at NDTV Broadcast, showcasing her diverse talents and expertise in the industry.
