Guwahati will soon have 11 air-conditioned bus stops. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement while laying the foundation stone for the RG Baruah Road flyover today.
According to the Chief Minister, the Assam government had been considering the construction of air-conditioned bus stops for some time. Therefore, he instructed the Public Works Department (Roads) to begin work on the stoppages immediately, rather than waiting for a foundation-stone laying ceremony.
The new AC stoppages will be constructed near these locations:
i) Assam Agricultural University Khanapara Campus
ii) GNT Chinmoy Mission, Sixmile (opposite Rajasthan Lime)
iii) Purbanchal Path, Mathura Nagar
iv) Mukesh Hyundai
v) Pushpanjali Arcade, ABC
vi) Samsung Showroom (opposite Rajiv Bhawan)
vii) Kamakhya Gate
viii) Mekhela Ujua Path, Kamakhya Gate
ix) Lachit Ghat
x) Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain Park
xi) PWD Campus, Fancy Bazaar
