Assam Government has announced the plans to build two foot-over bridges in Guwahati’s Zoo Road and Paltan Bazaar areas.

The Government plans to connect the Shraddhanjali Kanan Park and the Assam State Zoo and Botanical Garden on Radha Govinda Baruah Road, with a foot over-bridge in order to accommodate the increasing number of visitors.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the construction of a new foot over-bridge between Shraddhanjali Kanan Park and the Assam State Zoo on Tuesday, February 1. This foot overbridge is expected to cost Rs 18 crore.

The chief minister stated, “We want to ensure that visitors of one place can go to the other location easily over the escalated foot-over bridge.”

Another foot over-bridge from the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) campus to the opposite side will be built at Paltan Bazaar.

A third foot overbridge will be built on MG Road, connecting Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain Park to the LIC Campus across the street.

The Public Works Department (Roads) has been instructed to begin the construction of the three foot over-bridges on February 1, so that they can all be inaugurated at the same time.
