The Assam Kaziranga University

The second medical college in Guwahati will soon be a reality, which will significantly advance medical education and research in the State.

In order to do that, the Government of Assam and the investment firm Bright Star Investments Private Limited on Friday inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, and Bright Star Investments Private Limited founder Radhakishan Damani were among those present at the event conducted at the Janata Bhawan in Dispur.

The new medical college’s academic year will begin in 2024, according to CM Sarma, who spoke at the event. He also said: “Within the next five years, there will be 24 medical colleges in the state and following the construction work of all the medical colleges, MBBS seats will be 2,700.”

The Medical College is planned to be named Pragjyotishpur Medical College and will be established in the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Mode with an investment of Rs. 150 Crores by Bright Star Investments Private Limited.
