Four to five thieves who pretended to be Crime Branch officers looted a shop and stole around Rs 70,000 on Sunday in Guwahati’s Zoo Road area.
Reports claimed that the robbers threatened the shopkeeper with drug containers before robbing him of between 60,000-70,000 rupees.
When they were caught, they pretended to be from the crime branch and said that they were trying to bust the shopkeeper while he was carrying drugs.
When they were apprehended by the locals, they also used foul language. The incident was later reported to the police.
