The District Administration has published a few rules to control picnickers congregating at several picnic areas in the Kamrup Metropolitan District.
It is explicitly banned to smoke or consume alcohol at the picnic area.
Loud music, high-noted instruments, and hooliganism are not permitted anywhere, but they are particularly forbidden close to bird sanctuaries. Officials in charge of picnic security reserve the authority to eject a party from a picnic location in the event of a violation.
People who violate the rules, especially by leaving the area littered, will be fined 1000 rupees.
The Forest Officials are responsible for collecting the fine for offences committed in the forest, while the Revenue Officials are responsible for collecting the fine for offences committed in revenue regions.
The Forest Department must put appropriate signage designating picnic areas. The Forest Department and Sponsors are tasked with erecting sizable, noticeable sign boards that clearly state where picnics are allowed and where it is forbidden.
