Assam Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs and Irrigation Ashok Singhal informed on Saturday that due to the closure of the ferry service between Guwahati and North Guwahati, daily commuters and students can avail ropeway services at concessional rates of Rs. 25 for one way and Rs. 50 for both ways.
According to a public notice issued by the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority, “During the period of closure of Ferry service between Guwahati and North Guwahati GMDA shall operate ropeway services at concessional ticket price for regular commuters & students.”
However, there was no mention of tourists or other types of commuters in the notification.
The notification specifies morning hours: 8.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m., and evening hours: 4.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m., for the offer, which may be obtained only by presenting a valid identity card at the ticket counter.
“The commuter shall produce valid Identity card at the ticket counter for availing concessional tickets,” the notification added.
