Guwahati’s Smart City Mission progress is deemed the ‘worst’ among Indian cities, ranking 96th out of 100 in the latest evaluation by the standing committee on Housing and Urban Affairs.
As of December 2023, 8 of the 15 worst-performing smart cities are in the northeast. Guwahati initiated 22 projects valued at ₹945 crore, with 50% completion by December.
