In Guwahati, the requirement for licences for city bus conductors will soon be implemented. The District Transport Office (DTO), Kamrup Metro will shortly strictly enforce the order to make licences mandatory for city bus conductors in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988.

DTO Enforcement Officer Himangshu Das said to G Plus, “Conductors are the ones who technically, lead a bus. They need to be licensed professionals for this. Without a license, they would not be employed in buses around the city.”

Meanwhile, Kamrup (Metro) District Transport Officer Gautam Das said, “According to Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, the conductors must have a license. We will now implement and execute this strictly.”

The DTO added that it will arrange for conductors to get training before issuing them with a licence. Conductors who disobey this regulation will also be fined.

Previously, the DTO has also stated that the conductors of the city buses in Guwahati will have a specific dress code or uniform allocated to them.
