Mrigen Sarania, of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was re-elected Mayor of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) on Tuesday.
Sarania, the former Mayor of the GMC, was re-elected for a second term, claiming to be the most experienced of the 58 new NDA councillors elected in the GMC elections.
Meanwhile, Smita Roy, also a BJP candidate, who won from Ward No 22, will serve as Deputy Mayor.
