Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday that the flyover at Maligoan, which is now under construction, will be opened to the public after ‘Bohag Bihu’ next year.

Speaking at the flyover’s opening ceremony in Arya Nagar, which was held on Friday, the Assam chief minister said, “The Maligoan flyover is approximately four kilometers long. We are hoping to open it for the public after Bohag Bihu.”

Chief Minister Sarma then turned his focus to the flyover that is now under construction at Zoo Road, stating that it will be completed prior to the Bohag Bihu in 2024.

He continued, “We have some big plans. I plan to build a six kilometers long flyover from Handique College to Bamunimaidam. The construction works will begin only after the completion of Maligaon and Zoo Road flyovers.”

Chief Minister Sarma provided more details about his plans, saying, “A flyover will be constructed in front of Cycle Factory. Also, the bridge connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati will be completed within a year-and-a-half.”

He added, “Construction of the Palasbari to Suwalkuchi flyover will begin next year. A flyover will also come up at Baihata Chariali. Work on the Narangi to Kuruwa flyover will also begin soon.”

A second ropeway in the city was also announced by the Assam Chief Minister. He said: “We are planning to build a ropeway from Khanapara to the airport at Borjhar.”
