Guwahati resident Shilpa Khanikar received the 506th All India Rank in the UPSC Civil Services Exam, which was just announced.

She cleared the renowned Civic Services exam in her third attempt.

Noticeably, the top three positions in the UPSC 2021 exams were all obtained by women. The ranking was topped by Shruti Sharma of Uttar Pradesh, followed by Ankita Agrawal and Gamini Singla.

A total of 685 applicants have been chosen for the IFS, IAS, IPS, and allied services.

Khanikar, speaking to a local media outlet, said, “It is so overwhelming. I feel so grateful for being here today and I would like to thank my parents, and my extended family for supporting me throughout the journey.”

Khanikar is a Hatigaon resident. She attended Anand Academy in Dispur for her primary education before enrolling in Cotton College for her HS in 2013.

In 2017, she graduated from NIT Silchar with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

Further, she worked for a year before leaving her job to study for the Civil Services exam.
