Assam Cricket Association (ACA) President Taranga Gogoi stated on Saturday that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may be considering Guwahati as a potential location to host a World Cup match.

Speaking to the media ahead of the ODI match between India and Sri Lanka, which is set to take place at the ACA Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on January 10, Taranga Gogoi expressed optimism that this was the BCCI testing the ACA’s capacity to successfully host an ODI match, with India set to host the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup in the fourth quarter of the year.

In addition to the ACA President, the BCCI Joint Secretary Devajit Lon Saikia, the Guwahati Commissioner of Police Diganta Borah, the Kamrup Metropolitan district Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha, and the Guwahati Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Hiranya Kumar Barman spoke at the joint press conference.
