Assam Government has decided to create a firm that will exclusively administer the street lights of cities and towns in the State in an effort to reduce the workload of urban local authorities and the power departments.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, stated during a news conference held after the cabinet meeting in Jorhat on December 15 that the firm will exclusively deal with street lighting and will be a 100 percent government company.
He added that the firm would initially operate in Guwahati before expanding to all other cities and towns in the state.
