Assamese, along with seven other Indian languages, including Mizo and Meiteilon from Manipur, was finally added to Google Translate, announced Google on Wednesday night.

Sanskrit was the most requested language among the 24 new languages introduced to Google Translate in the most recent update, according to Google officials.

Sanskrit, Assamese, Bhojpuri, Dogri, Konkani, Maithili, Mizo, and Meiteilon are the eight new Indian languages added to Google Translate out of the total 24 new languages.

This brings the overall number of Indian languages supported by the service to 19.

The announcement was made late Wednesday night at the annual Google conference I/O.

People from Assam had a difficult time translating into and out of Assamese before the recent announcement. The majority of individuals used the Bing translator, but with the new addition, it is expected that the general public would be able to use it more handily.
