Gold medalist at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Nayanmoni Saikia, has been named the Deputy Superintendent of Police in the Assam Police, it was announced at the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
This would be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Integrated Sports Policy of Assam, 2017-18 (as amended).
Saikia won the gold medal in Lawn Bowls (Team Event) at the Birmingham-hosted 2022 Commonwealth Games.
