A Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) staff was arrested on Tuesday for accepting a bribe to provide a death certificate, according to an official statement.

Superintendent of GMCH Abhijit Sharma told the media that Gautam Das, a fourth-grade employee, had been arrested for receiving a bribe of Rs 5,000 in exchange for a death certificate.

Interestingly, Gautam Das took money from a person in exchange for the posthumous certificate, and the money was paid using ‘Google Pay.’

After telling the GMCH officials about the occurrence, Abhijit Sharma, the medical college superintendent, filed a complaint. Bhangagarh police apprehended the accused employee on the basis of the statement.
