On Tuesday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Rs 600 crore will be spent on road development in GMC wards.

In the next three months, each ward would receive Rs 10 crore for road construction and improvement. The chief minister said this at a function held at ITA Machkhowa on Tuesday, where CM Sarma congratulated freshly elected BJP councillors and their allies, AGP.

The chief minister added that the government’s other priority will be supplying home tap water and offering financial support to 60,000 women under the Orunodoi initiative.

He said, “The Government assures of providing Rs 10 crore to each GMC ward for roads. We will start the work from August-September this year with Rs 600 crore.”
