The illegal operation of a valet parking service on the premises of City Center, a premium shopping mall in Guwahati, is risking the mall’s future.
On Friday evening, the GMC conducted a raid and discovered that the mall authorities had been operating the valet service without prior notice or permission from the GMC.
It’s also worth noting that the valet parking service has been operating illegally for quite some time.
According to reports, the mall authority charged each vehicle owner between Rs 100 and Rs 150 as a fee.
The shopping mall generates Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 per day from illegal parking, according to GMC reports.
The City Center Mall, which is located in the heart of Guwahati, was fined Rs 10 lakh on the spot in the raid conducted by the GMC.
On the other hand, the mall authorities refused to pay the fine.
As a result, the parking lot was shut down indefinitely.
