The Town Vending Committee of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has designated eight vending zones throughout the city.
In total, 599 street vendors will be relocated in these vending zones.
The GMC has designated the following vending zone locations:
• Wholesale Gali, Ganeshguri
• Borbari, VIP Road, near IIHM
• Panbazar, opposite to Meghdoot Bhawan
• In front of the GMC office, Uzan Bazar (restricted vending zone from 5 PM to 9 PM)
• Phool Gali, Fancy Bazar
• Col. J. Ali Road, AT Road
• Under Chandmari Flyover, Southside
• Mezzanine floor of multistoried building of GMC at Fancy Bazar
Furthermore, a ‘No Vending Zone’ has been established between Goenka Point near the Sikh Temple and MG Road near the LICI Office.
The GMC has been evicting illegal vendors from Guwahati’s streets for operating without permission or documentation.
