The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC)’s Health and Enforcement branches continued their inspection drives against GMC by-law violators.

On January 27 and 28, inspection drives were carried out in the Guwahati’s Fatasil, Athgaon, Kumarpara, Japorigog, Sarumotoria, and Borbari areas.

Approximately 70 businesses were inspected during the drive, including motels, fast food stalls, hardware stores, sweetmeat stores, meat selling stores, pharmacies, scrapyards, and so on.

For violations of certain rules and regulations, fines were imposed and notices were served under the terms of the GMC Act.

A total of Rs. 1,36,000 was collected as a penalty during the two-day drive.

Moreover, 13 stores were sealed during the same drive because their trades were in violation of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation Act.
