A 21-year-old youth was detained on September 12 in Dibrugarh’s Borbam area for reportedly stealing a scooter.
The young man identified as Hemanta Gogoi works in a restaurant in Jorhat and is from that city.
According to the In-Charge of the Bhogdoi Police Outpost, Hemanta stole the scooter on September 10 in order to visit his lover, who resides in the Borbam area in Dibrugarh.
After learning about the theft, the Bhogdoi Police tracked out Gogoi and discovered him at Borbam. Later, the police got in touch with his girlfriend and asked her to assist them in arresting him.
According to reports, on September 11, Hemanta Gogoi’s girlfriend allegedly misled him into going to the Borbam Police Outpost, where he was then taken into custody and turned over to the Bhogdoi Police.
