Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a conference in Diphu, Karbi Anglong on Friday said that the future looks bleak for government schools in the state.

The chief minister said that within ten years, no students will attend government schools and all teachers will be compelled to take VRS.

Chief Minister Sarma informed that 53,000 teachers were hired between 2012 and 2014. In 2012, 84 per cent of students attended government schools. It’s now down to 68 per cent.
