Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by stating that petrol prices in Guwahati were among the cheapest in India on Sunday.

The chief minister tweeted, “My deep gratitude to Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodi ji for his directive to cut excise duty on petrol and diesel. Earlier, following his directive, BJP-led state govts had reduced taxes on fuel.”

“Happy to note that fuel prices in Guwahati is now among the cheapest in India,” added the tweet.

Petrol prices in Guwahati on Sunday were at Rs 95.99 per litre and diesel prices were at Rs 83.94 per litre after the central government cut excise duty on petrol by a record Rs 8 per litre and on diesel by Rs 6 per litre.

Meanwhile, the price of petrol in Delhi was Rs 96.72 per litre, while the price of diesel was Rs 89.62 per litre.

Petrol was selling for Rs 111.35 per litre in Mumbai, while diesel was selling for Rs 97.28 per litre. The petrol price in Kolkata was Rs 106.03 per litre, while the diesel price is Rs 92.76 per litre on Sunday.
