Around Rs 10,000 crore worth of damage has been done by this year’s severe floods. Since April, floods have been occurring in Assam.

54 lakh people have been affected by nature’s wrath this year, and over 190 people have already died. Massive landslides have also led to significant losses in infrastructure and life, in addition to floods.

While the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) was still compiling the damage report, it estimated that the losses will be in the region of Rs 10,000 crore.

Nearly 200 embankments in the affected districts were damaged and breached this year by severe flooding. At least 20,992 homes have been completely destroyed by floodwaters, and 202,671 more have been partially damaged.

In addition, according to ASDMA, floods have killed over 53,781 animals in the affected areas and submerged 240,096 hectares of crops.

Additionally, floodwaters damaged or completely destroyed a number of roads, bridges, and culverts.
