State Finance Minister Ajanta Neog revealed today, February 12, during the budget speech in the Assam Assembly, that the Fancy Bazar wholesale market will be relocated to the outskirts of the city.
The purpose is to ease congestion in the area and boost commercial activity. Minister Neog also mentioned plans for an industrial township at Jagiroad and additional reservoirs under the Guwahati South Central Groundwater Supply Project, with a budget allocation of ₹3084.59 crore for Housing and Urban Affairs projects.
