The Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has urged residents of Assam to participate in “Earth Hour” today by turning off all lights (except those that are absolutely necessary) from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Earth Hour is a global grassroots initiative coordinated by the WWF that brings people together to take action on environmental issues and protect the earth. Earth Hour began as a lights-out event in Sydney, Australia in 2007, and has since grown to include a large mainstream community.
