On Friday, January 28, Noonmati Police arrested a doctor from the Guwahati Refinery Hospital for reportedly making inappropriate sexual advances toward a nurse.
According to police, Bhaskar Baruah, the doctor, is accused of attempting to take advantage of a nurse who was caring for an elderly patient in the hospital.
The nurse works for a non-profit organisation and is the elderly patient’s caretaker. After escaping the doctor’s grip, she raised an alarm.
The doctor has been charged with violating sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and a case has been filed against the doctor in the Noonmati Police Station.
After the incident, Bhaskar Baruah was absconding. On January 27, the police raided his Geetanagar home as well.
Meanwhile, Baruah was later located and detained from Kamalpur last night, according to a senior official of the Noonmati Police Station.
