The main conspirator and creator of Bulli Bai on GitHub and the main Twitter account holder of Bulli Bai, identified as one 21-year-old Neeraj Bishnoi arrested by Delhi Police from his hometown Jorhat in Assam on Thursday, January 6.
The arrest was made by the Delhi Police Special Cell Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO).
“Neeraj Bishnoi, arrested from Assam by Delhi Police Special Cell’s IFSO team, is the main conspirator and creator of ‘Bulli Bai’ on GitHub and the main Twitter account holder of the app,” K P S Malhotra, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit, told the media.
What is Bulli Bai?
Bulli Bai was an app developed by a group of Indians from across the country to trick people and make financial gains. The idea behind the app was to put Indian women, mostly Muslim women, up for “auction” and earn money in return.
These are fake auctions created by cybercriminals to trick users into thinking that they have got the woman in exchange for money.
In incidents like Bulli Bai, cyber criminals pick photos of popular women, celebs, influencers, journalists, and so on, from the internet and use them for their financial gains.
These online scammers steal photos of these women from their social media account and list them on the platform.
