Assam’s Cotton University, known for its prestigious academic programs, is set to conduct the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for the first time in the state. The university has announced that the entrance test will take place from May 21 to May 30, 2023.

To ensure a smooth process, Cotton University has also kept the dates from June 1 to 7, 2023, as a backup in case of any unforeseen circumstances.

Sanjay Kr Dutta, the Academic Registrar of Cotton University, discussed the upcoming test in an interview with G Plus. According to him, after the release of the CUET results, there will be a round of form fill-up through the university’s website. Admission to the university’s undergraduate and postgraduate courses will be based on the merit list generated from the entrance test results.

A significant number of approximately 11,000 applicants are expected to sit for the CUET at Cotton University, demonstrating the test’s significance for students seeking admission to various programs.

CUET is a crucial examination designed to evaluate candidates’ knowledge, aptitude, and skills in their respective subject areas. It will be conducted in a computer-based mode (CBT) and will consist of multiple-choice questions. Notably, the test will be available in 13 languages, including Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

Language proficiency will be assessed through reading comprehension passages, covering factual information, literary passages, and narrative literary aptitude, as well as vocabulary.

The syllabus for CUET encompasses a wide range of subjects, including general knowledge, current affairs, general mental ability, numerical ability, quantitative reasoning, logical analytical reasoning, among others.
